Baggage Services
Baggage Regulations

Items that are forbidden to be carried by passengers as carry-on baggage or checked-in baggage include: 

1. Firearms and other weapons (including major components).

2. Explosives or combustible materials and devices (items capable of causing severe personal injury or endangering aircraft safety, explosive or combustible devices/materials, or items that may be mistakenly identified as such devices/materials).

3. Restricted items (restricted items capable of causing personal harm or posing a significant threat to aviation safety and transportation order).

4. Dangerous items.

5. Other items (items contributing to personal harm or posing a significant threat to aviation safety and transportation order).

6. Items prohibited from transport by national laws, administrative regulations, and rules.

Items that are allowed to be carried by passengers as carry-on baggage or checked-in baggage include: 

1. Items unacceptable as carry-on baggage but acceptable as checked-in baggage: 

1.1 Sharp objects (items with sharp edges or pointed tips, made of metal or other materials with sufficient strength to cause severe personal injury).

1.2 Blunt objects (items without sharp edges or pointed tips, made of metal or other materials with sufficient strength to cause severe personal injury).

1.3 Other items capable of causing personal harm or posing a significant threat to aviation safety and transportation order.

2. Items acceptable as carry-on baggage or acceptable as checked-in baggage with limitations: 

2.1 Items acceptable as carry-on baggage with limitations but acceptable as checked-in baggage

2.1.1 For passengers on international or regional flights, liquid items stored in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml are allowed in the cabin.

2.1.2 Passengers on international flights are prohibited from carrying liquid items (except for cosmetics, toothpaste, and shaving cream for personal use during air travel). Cosmetics for personal use during air travel must meet three conditions simultaneously: one piece per type; stored in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml; accept bottle-opening inspection. Toothpaste and shaving cream are limited to one piece and should not exceed 100g (ml).

2.1.3 Liquid dairy products necessary for infants during air travel and liquid drugs necessary for patients with diabetes or other diseases during air travel can be carried on board after security checks.

2.1.4 Liquid items purchased or obtained by passengers within the airport-controlled area or on the aircraft can be carried on board before leaving the airport-controlled area.

2.2 Items acceptable as carry-on baggage but acceptable as checked-in baggage with limitations

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited for carry-on but may be checked as baggage under the following conditions:

2.2.1 Clearly labeled and placed inside retail packaging, with each container not exceeding 5L.

2.2.2 When the alcohol’s volume percentage is less than or equal to 24%, there is no limit to the checked quantity per passenger.

2.2.3 When the alcohol’s volume percentage is greater than 24% but less than or equal to 70%, the quantity checked by each passenger shall not exceed 5L.

2.3 Items unacceptable as carry-on baggage but acceptable as checked-in baggage with limitations

Portable chargers and button batteries are prohibited for checked baggage but may be carried on board under the following conditions (different rules apply for button batteries used in motorized wheelchairs):

2.3.1 Clearly labeled, with a rated energy of less than or equal to 100wh.

2.3.2 When the rated energy is greater than 100wh but less than or equal to 160wh, approval from the airline is required, with a limit of two pieces per person.

3. Other items subject to restrictions on transportation as stipulated by national laws, administrative regulations, and rules.

Checked Baggage

Packaging Requirements:

Checked baggage must be properly packaged, securely locked, and firmly tied to withstand a certain level of pressure. It is capable of safe loading, unloading, and transportation under normal operating conditions. Failure to meet the following conditions may result in the carrier refusing to accept the baggage:

1. Suitcases, travel bags, and handbags are required to be securely locked (locks are provided free of charge at the check-in counters in the terminal).

2. Multiple items shall not be bundled as one piece.

3. Additional items shall not be attached to the baggage.

4. Items such as bamboo baskets, net bags, straw ropes, and straw bags shall not be used as external packaging for baggage.

Rules regarding the weight and size of checked baggage are subject to the regulations on the airline’s official website or purchased flight tickets.

Transportation of Small Living Animals:

Small living animals refer to cats, dogs, or other small pets kept at home. The transportation of small animals should adhere to the following regulations:

Passengers must submit animal quarantine certificates at the time of booking or purchasing a ticket. Transportation of small animals is subject to the consent of the carrier and must meet the transport conditions for the aircraft type on the day of the flight. Passengers should transport the small animals to the airport and complete the check-in procedure at the time designated by the carrier on the day of the flight.

Containers used for transporting small animals should meet the following requirements:

1. Prevent small animals from damaging, escaping, or extending outside the container to avoid injuring passengers, baggage, or cargo.

2. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent suffocation of small animals.

3. Prevent the leakage of excrement to avoid contamination of the aircraft, onboard equipment, and other items. Unless approved by the carrier, small animals carried by passengers shall not be transported in the cabin. The weight of the small animal and its container is subject to an additional fee based on excess baggage charges.

Regulations for Free Checked Baggage:

The weight restrictions for free checked baggage are as follows: First Class 40 kilograms, Business Class 30 kilograms, and Economy Class 20 kilograms. Passengers holding infant tickets are not entitled to a free baggage allowance.

Note: The above restrictions are general guidelines, and different airlines may have their own standards. Please refer to the relevant information on your ticket.

For two or more passengers traveling on the same flight to the same destination, if they check their baggage at the same time and place, their free baggage allowances can be combined based on their respective ticket classes.

Excess Baggage:

The rate for excess baggage on domestic flights is calculated at 1.5% of the economy class fare per kilogram, and the amount is in yuan. (For differentiated airlines, the excess baggage fee standards are subject to the airline’s official website or the passenger ticket display.)

Oversized and Irregular Items:

Oversized and irregular items must obtain prior approval from the airline before being shipped.

Carry-On Baggage

For domestic flights, the weight of carry-on baggage is limited to 5 kilograms per passenger. Passengers holding first-class tickets are allowed to carry two items; Passengers holding business or economy class tickets can only carry one item. Each piece of carry-on baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 20x40x55 centimeters. Items that exceed the weight, quantity, or size limits should be checked as checked baggage. (For differentiated airlines, the standards are subject to the airline’s official website or to the passenger ticket display.)

For international flights, each passenger in first class and business class is allowed to carry two pieces of carry-on baggage, while economy class passengers are allowed to carry one piece of carry-on baggage. The weight limit for each piece of carry-on baggage shall not exceed 22 pounds (equivalent to 10 kilograms) per item. (Please note that some airlines may have specific weight restrictions.) The dimensions for each carry-on baggage should not exceed 20x40x55 centimeters. Items that exceed the weight, quantity, or size limits should be checked as checked baggage. (For differentiated airlines, the standards are subject to the airline’s official website or the passenger ticket display.)

Baggage Claim

Upon arrival, inbound passengers should follow the instructions on the baggage claim board and collect their baggage at the designated baggage claim area with the baggage claim form.

Baggage Wrapping

For the safety of your baggage, there is a baggage wrapping service available in the departure hall of the terminal. Charges for the service are based on the size of your baggage. For items like alcoholic beverages that require sealing, special fee boxes will be provided while wrapping.

Unusual Baggage

Upon your arrival at this station, if you find that your baggage did not arrive on the same flight, is damaged, or has missing contents, please proceed to the Baggage Inquiry Counter at Sanya Phoenix International Airport (except for China Southern Airlines) or the Baggage Inquiry Counter of China Southern Airlines (exclusive to China Southern Airlines) for assistance.

Baggage Storage

If you need to store your belongings, please visit the baggage storage counter located between Gates B and C in the arrival hall on the first floor of Terminal 1. For inquiries, please call 0898-88287016.

Baggage storage fees:

Small Locker (33.5CM×41CM×85CM): 15 yuan per item per day

Medium Locker (47CM×41CM×85CM): 25 yuan per item per day

Large Locker (65CM×41CM×85CM): 35 yuan per item per day

Calculation of storage hours:

If the storage duration is less than 1 day, it will be calculated as 1 day. If the duration is more than 1 day but less than 12 hours, it will be calculated as a half-day. If the duration is more than 12 hours but less than 24 hours, it will be calculated as 1 day.
